GRAYSON, Ga. (AP) — Police in Gwinnett County say a 14-year-old boy is dead after being shot during an apparent robbery inside the home he lived in.

Police department spokesman Jake Smith says the victim’s father found his son’s body inside their house in Grayson around 2:40 p.m. Wednesday and called police.

Authorities Wednesday evening identified the teen as Paul Sampleton and say he was a student at Grayson High School. Police say Sampleton was released early because the school held a half-day.

Smith says police found evidence of a robbery and it was not immediately clear where the boy was wounded. Smith says there was no evidence of forced entry to the home and police were preparing a search warrant for the house Wednesday evening.

Additional details were not immediately available.
