Mayor Reed Honors Connecticut School Shooting Victims

ATLANTA (WAOK)– The response to the shooting of 20 children and 6 adults in Newtown, Connecticut on Friday has been felt worldwide. In many cities there are makeshift memorials including candles, flowers and teddy bears.

President Obama on Friday ordered flags flown at half staff. Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed also ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in the city.

“On behalf of the City of Atlanta, I want to express my deepest sympathy for the children, families, teachers and first responders affected by today’s horrific tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut,” said Mayor Reed.

Flags will be flown at half-staff at all City of Atlanta public buildings and grounds until sunset, December 18, 2012.
