ATLANTA (AP/WAOK) -A consultant projects that Atlanta’s civic center will lose about $400,000 each year for the next five years, and something needs to be done to stop the losses.
Officials say the new study recommends immediate action to stop the facility from draining city finances.
Supporters of the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic say the facility could regain some sheen with new investment, including an additional sound stage for film shoots or re-branding the complex as a full-service production facility.
Filming of TV shows in the exhibit hall — including footage of the “Walking Dead” — has been a bright spot for the venue in recent years. Authorities say the TV show filming has helped to offset some of the civic center’s losses.
