The St. Pius X Golden Lions are set to host North Hall in the Class AAA semifinals tomorrow, but the team will now face the Trojans without one of the country’s most dynamic juniors. Nick Glass has left St. Pius X and is trying to decide his next move.
The news initially broke via Twitter on Tuesday with Glass revealing he had left the school.
“I left on my own …” was part of a tweet sent out by @Nick_Glass24.
Glass is a 6-foot-2, 202-pound defensive back with 4.49 speed and a 35-inch vertical. The junior is a member of the Score 24 2Look4 in 2013 and ESPN has placed him on its Watch List for the 2014 recruiting class. He committed to Georgia back on April 4, 2012.
ESPN.com’s Radi Nabulsi confirmed with Glass’ uncle Marcus Woods that Glass was no longer enrolled at St. Pius X.
“We will spend the next 48 to 72 hours to come up with where he can go and what will be good for him in the long run,” Woods told Nabulsi in an article on ESPN.
Head coach Paul Standard did confirm to Score that Glass is no longer enrolled at St. Pius X.
The Golden Lions still have a potent offensive attack with quarterback Jack Spear and playmakers Nick Ruffin, Ryan Braswell and Branden Mitchell. Glass played some on offense but will be missed most in the defensive secondary, where he stepped right into Geno Smith’s spot after the former standout graduated last year. Smith now plays for Nick Saban at Alabama.
