ATLANTA (AP/WAOK) – Georgia Lottery officials say 35 players won prizes of $10,000 or more in the Powerball drawing.
Officials say David Jackson bought a ticket at the Georgia Food Mart in Riverdale and won $1 million in Wednesday’s drawing.
An unidentified player who bought their ticket at a Chevron in Douglasville also won $40,000. Officials say 33 other players won $10,000 each. Many others won between $4 and $200.
Two winning tickets for the $588 million Powerball jackpot were sold in Arizona and Missouri.
Georgia Lottery officials Thursday announced Powerball ticket sales this week translated to $16.9 million for the HOPE Scholarship fund and for pre-kindergarten programs.
The Georgia Lottery has helped fund HOPE scholarships for over 1.4 million students, and preschool programs for over 1.2 million children.
