Dekalb Police Charge 13 Year Old In Toddler’s Death

DECATUR, Ga. (AP) — Police in DeKalb County have charged a 13-year-old girl in the stabbing death of her 2-year-old sister.

Mekka Parish, a police spokeswoman, said Tuesday Sasha Ray, the young girl, was stabbed multiple times and her body was found by her father behind the family’s townhome on Monday.

The 13-year-old has been identified Tyashia Jackson. Police say she will be charged as an adult.  A court hearing was set for Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities say the girl’s siblings, all under the age of 5, were home at the time of the incident. Parish says the toddler was attacked inside of the house and investigators do not believe the other children witnessed the slaying.

Family members say the teen was angry because a neighbor reported she had a teenage boy at the home. The teen called her step father and confessed the murder to him on Monday night.
