Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. So in honor of the cause, Larry Tinsley thought it would be appropriate to spotlight this disease that affects so many women and t heir families. So today on Sunday Morning Praise, Larry offers a few tips to keep you healthy.
Kaiser Permanente says that although the exact cause of breast cancer is no known, most experts agree that there are several factors that increase you risk, such as genetics, age, sex and race. Your best defences is early detection. Breast cancer is most treatable when its found early. So talk with your doctor to find out when you should have a mammogram and clinical breast exam. A breast self-exam can also help detect changes in your breast. If you find a lump or other unusual changes, see your doctor immediately. To help prevent Breast Cancer, here are a few factors that you can control.
•Limit your alcohol intake
•Control your weight
•Get plenty of physical exercise
•Breast feed your children
•Discontinue hormone therapy
•Avoid exposure to environmental pollution
