ATLANTA (AP/WAOK) -A murder trial is set to begin for a man accused of gunning down two police officers outside Atlanta in 2008.
Officials say a jury was seated Monday afternoon, with the trial expected to begin Tuesday for William Maurice Woodard. He’s accused of killing DeKalb County police officers Eric Barker and Ricky Bryant.
Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for 34-year-old Woodard.
Woodard has pleaded not guilty, and maintains that he wrestled a gun away from one of the officers and fired upon them in self-defense.
