We had a great time on Powertalk with Lorraine Jacques-White. Our special guest was Shirley Sherrod former Georgia State Director of Rual Development for the United States Department of Agriculture.
Shirley Sherrod, called in to discuss her new book, The Courage to Hope, her feelings about the controversial, edited video which resulted in false accusations of racism and her eventual resignation from her position within the Agriculture Department.
Sherrod writes in her book that she was disappointed that Barack Obama had been “so easily cowed by right-wing bullies.” That being said, she still supports him and thinks he has done a great job in his first term as president.
As for the late conservative firebrand, Andrew Breitbart, who distributed the edited clip of Sherrod, she says that, although she never had the opportunity to meet or speak with the recently-deceased media figure, she has since forgiven him.
However she has never received a formal apology for the clip of her he spread around the Internet.
