The injury report for the Falcons for their Week 1 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs is as good as any NFL coach can hope for at any time during this season.
Both running back Jason Snelling (calf) and cornerback Christopher Owens (hamstring) didn’t appear to have any setbacks with increased practice time. Both were fully involved in Friday’s practice. Both men are listed as probable for the season opener.
The Chiefs weren’t as lucky on the injury front with a handful of men listed as doubtful and others listed as questionable. Interestingly enough, every Chief on the injury report is on the defensive side of the ball. Defensive tackle Anthony Toribio (ankle), defensive end Allen Bailey (ankle) and safety Kendrick Lewis (shoulder) were not in Friday’s practice and all three are listed as doubtful for the game.
Linebackers Jovan Belcher (groin), Derrick Johnson (ankle) and cornerbacks Jalil Brown (groin) and Brandon Flowers (foot) did participate in limited practice Friday. These four players are listed as questionable.
Belcher, Flowers, Lewis and Toribio are listed as starters on the Kansas City depth chart. Johnson, Belcher, Lewis and Flowers were Kansas City’s first, second, fourth and fifth leading tacklers, respectively, in the 2011 season.
