Atlanta (WAOK)-A reward fund totaling twelve thousand dollars is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of two suspects still wanted by police in the murder of a popular lounge owner in Northwest Atlanta. Family members of the victim, Atlanta Police Department officials, and Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard, Jr. today announced the reward in the murder of Vanessa Thrasher, owner of O.T.’s Lounge Soul Food Grill. Thrasher was gunned down in her business on August 16. Police say she was shot seven times by as many as four suspects.
Two of the four suspects have been arrested. Within hours of her death, police arrested one suspect, 23-year-old Otis Rick’s, Jr. The second suspect identified as Demario Carman, 23was arrested Tuesday night. Two other men are still wanted in connection with the crime: Gerald Peterson, 23, and an unidentified suspect known only as C.J. All four suspects are believed to be members of the criminal street gang ‘Campbellton Road Gangsters.’
The Fulton County District Attorneys office says Ms. Thrasher was scheduled to testify in a pending murder trial within just a few days of her murder. However, authorities say there is no evidence so far to suggest her death was in any way connected to her scheduled testimony.
The twelve thousand reward is funded in part by the Thrasher family which posted five thousand dollars. That money is being matched by the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office. In addition to that ten thousand dollars, Crime Stoppers Atlanta will pay up to two thousand dollars for credible tips that come through their anonymous hotline at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
