ATLANTA (WAOK/AJC) Atlanta firefighters extinguished a fire on the roof of one of the buildings at Tyler Perry studios this afternoon. This is the second fire at the facility this year. In May a 4 alarm fire heavily damaged a building containing a sound stage. This latest fire was on the roof of the building next to the one that caught on fire in May. No arrest was ever made in the May fire. Fire officials continue to investigate.
Tyler Perry Studios is located on Continental Colony Parkway in southeast Atlanta.
The 200,000-square-foot studio, which opened in 2008, is home to sets, sound stages and a 400-seat theater. In March, Perry hosted a fundraiser for President Barack Obama at the studio.
