ATLANTA (WAOK) - Women might be driven to drink after marriage. A new study finds that married women are more likely to hit the bottle after their status changes when compared to singles, widows or divorcees.
The researchers think the uptick in female drinking after marriage is due to the influence of husbands.
The scientists at the University of Cincinnati found that men go in the opposite direction after they take marital vows.
The men drank less than unmarried guys and a good bit less than divorced fellows. Results of the study are being presented at a meeting of the American Sociological Association.
