ATLANTA (WAOK)-Of all of the races still undecided from the primary election, the fight to be Clayton County’s next Sheriff is the most talked about campaign. Former Sheriff Victor Hill faces current Sheriff Kem Kimbrough in the runoff election on Tuesday.
Victor Hill is facing 37 felony charges ranging from racketeering to witness tampering. Hill says the charges are a result of a political witch hunt orchestrated by Kimbrough to keep Hill from possibly winning another term as Clayton County sheriff.
Kimbrough, meanwhile is trying to explain the death of an inmate at the Clayton County jail in the last week, questionable hiring of deputies who had been fired from other law enforcement jobs, and accusations of sexual misconduct.
We have invited both candidates to have the final say before election day, Monday morning August 20 at 8 am on V-103 and WAOK.
