Atlanta (WAOK)- Atlanta police spent part of the Wednesday morning rush hour investigating a double fatality accident on GA 400 north bound near Lennox Rd.

Police say their preliminary investigation shows a driver entered 400 from Lennox Rd traveling south bound in the north bound lanes.  The wrong way driver collided head on with another vehicle that was traveling North on GA 400.

Police say the driver traveling North on GA 400 died at the scene.  The driver traveling the wrong way on the freeway was transported to Grady Hospital and later died from their injuries.

There was a passenger in the vehicle traveling the wrong way on GA 400; that passenger is listed in critical condition with severe injuries.  Police say it appears alcohol may have been a factor in this accident.  The wrong way driver and the passenger in that vehicle were NOT wearing seatbelts at the time of this collision.

Next of kin has not been notified for any victims, therefore, names are not being released.
