If you have ever tried to park in Downtown Atlanta then you know how frustrating it can be. We’ve witnessed those frustrations, anger, and even vandalism. Now 11-alive wants to get something done about the parking problems in our city by giving our viewers and WAOK listeners a choice and opportunity to effect change.
Beginning Monday on the Morning News at 6am; 11 Alive is launching a Park Atlanta Investigative Report. The three part report will cover the confusion when parking and paying meters, the frustration of business owners who say strict enforcement hurts their bottom line, and the opinion of some lawmakers who like City Councilman Kwanza Hall would like to see Park Atlanta gone.
Find out WHO is Park Atlanta? HOW the company operates and WHAT is the company’s plan to enforce parking in Atlanta.
The 11 Alive Center for Investigate Action (CIA) will explore Park Atlanta ‘By the Numbers’. They investigate company profits, Park Atlanta’s contract with the City, your odds of beating a parking ticket, and an undercover look at how long it takes enforcement officers to actually write a citation.
Finally and most importantly find out what can be done to correct the situation so everyone in Atlanta can trust that they are being treated fairly.
11Alive has created a “Parking Bill of Rights” that consists of three simple things:
1) Working, easy to use meters
2) Clearly marked parking spaces
3) Clear and understandable signs
