Family Dog Saves Owner’s Life Twice In Less Than A Year
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (CBS Atlanta) — Talk about a man’s best friend. A family dog has saved his owner’s life twice in the past year.
The Gwinnett Daily Post reports that a 5-year-old pit bull named Titan recently saved Gloria Benton’s life several weeks ago by barking to wake her husband John Benton up after she broke her hip by falling in the bathroom.
This latest incident came less than a year after he saved her life the first time.
According to the Daily Post, Titan was able to get John Benton’s attention by running up and down the stairs after Gloria Benton suffered an aneurysm and fractured skull last July.
“What the doctor said, had it not been for this dog, if he had let me leave that house, she would have either bled to death or the aneurysm would have killed her,” John Benton told WAGA-TV. “We owe a whole lot to this little rascal. It’s not about the breed but the way they are raised.”
And because of Titan’s heroic actions, he was the runner-up in The Humane Society’s “Valor Dog of the Year.”
“I think he won because he saved her life, which is just amazing,” Jessica DuBois, Georgia senior state director of The Humane Society, told the Daily Post. “There is so much negative press about these dogs and there are incidents where unfortunate circumstances happen, but overall, the breed is an amazing breed.”
