ATLANTA (AP/WAOK) – Atlanta city workers are under investigation for inappropriate workplace activity. Investigators have discovered a loan sharking operation as well as open alcohol and substance use.
According to an Atlanta City Hall internal investigation, a public works crew supervisor allegedly loaned money to other employees for 25 to 50 cents on the dollar. The report cites an employee witnessing another employee ask a supervisor for $150 for car repairs.
The investigators also have eyewitness accounts of drinking on the job. An onlooker was reported to have seen an 18-pack of beer in a city sanitation truck. Managers investigated the incident and fired the involved workers.
More employees could be fired as the investigation continues.
