Sanctions handed to the Penn State football program in the aftermath of the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse trial are causing a change atop the college football hierarchy.
By vacating 112 Penn State victories over a 14-year period, the sanctions cost Joe Paterno 111 wins. That means former Florida State coach Bobby Bowden now holds the top spot the FBS (formerly known as Division I-A) record book with 377.
However that doesn’t make him the King of Division I College Football… That honor once again belongs to former Grambling State University coach the late Eddie Robinson who has a total of 408 victories.
Robinson coached at Grambling State for 57 years from 1941-1997.
During his tenure at GSU Coach Rob recorded 45 winning seasons, including winning 17 Southwestern Athletic Conference championships and nine black college football national championships.
