DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. (CBS Atlanta) — A man who claims he was held hostage runs into a Georgia church asking for help during a Sunday sermon.

According to WGCL-TV, the 25-year-old man was bleeding from an alleged gunshot wound when he interrupted the service at St. John Baptist Church.

“When he came to the door, he was covered in blood,” Pastor Tommy Dunn told WGCL. “He collapsed at the entrance of the church.”

The station reports that the man told Dunn that he was kidnapped and was being held at a nearby house.

“He claims he had been kidnapped and hog-tied, and somehow or another he got loose, and when he did, he got shot with a .40 caliber under his left arm,” Dunn told WGCL.

The unidentified man was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Dekalb County authorities are currently investigating.
