In the last few years we have heard many news stories regarding how banks have had systemic discrimination practices towards African American & Hispanic families in pursuit of their American Dream by purchasing a home.
This global financial crisis is considered by many economists to be the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression of the 1930s. It resulted in the collapse of large financial institutions, the bailout of banks, downturns in stock markets around the world and in many areas, the housing market suffered, resulting in evictions, foreclosures and prolonged unemployment.
THAT IS ENOUGH TO CREATE FEAR……….
Fear is one of the most prevalent emotions that keep people from making sound decision about their financial position. Many chose to remain in the same nonproductive discomforting position all due to fear. Not realizing that by losing this fear they are able to take major steps is in breaking bad habit and creating new, healthier habit.
I know that there is a time that we all may need to rent. When starting out you need things that you are not able to purchase so renting becomes an alternative. But, we must be very careful to get trapped in that frustrating cycle.
Today, people are renting coffins to bury love one’s. Everything that you can think of can be rented. It’s easy, there are no obligations, you can return it without penalty or you can just walk away.
Home ownership changes all of that. Its benefits are vast and life changing. Never mind the rapid bad news of depreciation of property values and recent foreclosures. The market fixed rates has never been as low as they are currently. This is the best affordable time to purchase a home.
So, take the step to change your position from fear, from renting and take steps to own where you live. Own it, cherish it, build on it and pass it to the next generation. It is true that you end up paying your mortgage or someone else mortgage. So go out and GET IT.
