Ga Official Charged With Swiping Campaign Signs

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. (AP/WAOK) — An enforcement officer in metro Atlanta is charged with stealing campaign signs in Douglas County.

Fulton County code enforcement officer Marnitta Ballard of Lithia Springs faces a misdemeanor theft charge after authorities say she took a campaign sign supporting Douglas County Sheriff Phil Miller.

Douglas County Investigator Trent Wilson says he saw the woman driving a truck over the weekend when someone else got out of the vehicle and took one of Miller’s signs. Wilson works for the sheriff.

Wilson says numerous signs have been disappearing around Douglas County. He says investigators believe Ballard took as many as 50 or 60 after finding numerous signs at her home Monday night.
