ATLANTA (WAOK)-The man Georgia Department of Natural Resources police say is responsible for the jet ski accident that left the 11 year old stepson of singer Usher in critical condition has been identified. On Monday, the DNR identified the man as Jeffrey S. Hubbard of Atlanta, according to an incident report. The DNR says Hubbard was part of the same group as Kyle Glover and an unidentified 15 year old girl who were both injured.
As of late Monday afternoon the condition of Glover who is the son of Usher’s former wife Tameka Foster and Ryan Glover, an executive with Bounce TV remained unchanged. TMZ.com reports doctors have declared Kyle Glover brain dead, with sources explaining that he has experienced no brain activity since being admitted to Children’s Healthcare at Egleston Hospital on Friday.
Glover and an unidentified 15-year-old girl were being pulled by a pontoon boat in a tube on Lake Lanier near Holiday Marina Friday when DNR police say Hubbard crashed into them on the jet ski.
Usher reportedly arrived at the hospital Saturday night via private jet. The singer’s estranged wife and Glover’s mother, Tameka Foster, has yet to leave her son’s side.
DNR Sergeant Mike Burgamy says it’s too early to tell if charges will be filed against the jet ski driver, but adds that alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
This has been a deadly summer on Lake Lanier. In June, two young brothers from Gainesville were killed when their pontoon boat was rammed by a boater that DNR police say was “boating while drunk.” Griffin and Jake Prince were buried last week. It took DNR officials 10 days, with help from the FBI, to find the body of 13-year-old Griffin Prince because of the depth and lack of visibility in the lake. And this past weekend a family of five was also rescued when their boat sank after it was capsized by waves created from another boat.
And while his current CD, “Looking 4 Myself,” debuted atop the pop charts, Usher has also had his share of unwelcomed news of late. A stalker was arrested at his Atlanta-area home last month, and he has been engaged in a contentious custody battle over his two sons with Foster.
