Here’s five reasons that this is an outstanding car:
Performance. You’re never more than a twitch of the toe away from a super-speeder ticket.
Handling and Braking. Flat, solid and unflappable.
Fit and finish. On a par with anything else out there…anywhere.
Electronics. Google Earth nav just for starters.
Economy. Yeah. Economy. Didn’t see that coming, didja’?
Here’s the deal: The Audi A6 has an 8-speed automatic. If you want to go fast, just punch it. You’ll down-shift two gears and you’re gone. But once at cruising speed the 8-speed keeps your engine loafing. You’ll be turning well under 2000 RPM at 70 MPH….which means that in Atlanta’s early-morning commute…where you’re kinda’ boxed in doing 60 – 70, you can get an indicated 30 MPG out of this car. Again, the 8-speed auto gets the credit.
You’ll see more 8-speed autos in the future. Be glad.
You can get an A6 with a 4-cylinder turbo, but most of the A6’s that you’ll see will be the quattros with the 310 HP six and the 8-speed auto…rated at 19 MPG city and 28 Highway.
Ours came with both the Prestige and Sport Packages….lifting the A6’s$49,900 base price up to $61,530…including Audi’s LED headlights and destination charge. The Sport Package got us 19” wheels with performance tires and a Sport suspension.
The Prestige Package included vented leather front seats, front and rear parking sensors, BOSE Surround Sound to name just a few.
As for the electronics, Audi’s A6 has Google Earth Navigation and Google Local Search, real-time weather, traffic, news…even gas prices!
When you get on up into the $60,000 range, there are a number of outstanding vehicles to choose from. If performance, technology and economy are all hot buttons for you, the A6 belongs on your short-list.
