GBI Investigates Clayton County Police In Death Of 13 Year Old Suspect

JONESBORO, Ga. (AP/WAOK) — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating a Clayton County police officer after he shot and killed a 13-year-old boy while responding to a burglary.

The shooting of Trevion Davis, of Jonesboro, occurred before 2:30 p.m. Wednesday on Bonanza Church Road. Police say several people were burglarizing a home in the area, but scattered when officers appeared.

Clayton County Police Chief Greg Porter said Davis “appeared to have a weapon” and pointed it at the officer before the shooting. The officer shot the boy in the head.  Clayton County police have not confirmed what type of weapon the teen had in his possession.

Officers are still searching the area for suspects.

Neighbors said Davis may have been armed with a BB gun. This is the third police involved shooting n Clayton County in the past 30 days.
