2012 Cadillac Escalade
Yes…the Escalade is the original. Big and dressed in basic black with a 6.2 liter V-8…leather everywhere…big skinny steering wheel…”retro” column-mounted shifter… round chrome-trimmed gauges on the dashboard…the Escalade is a bit like stepping into a time machine…or a fine club or restaurant.
In Premium dress, the Escalade has three-row-seating with room for six, 22’s on the ground, rear-seat entertainment system with DVD, wireless headphones, auxiliary audio /video jacks, remote game plug-in, power-retractable running boards, wood trim, heated steering wheel, heated and cooled cupholders and a side blind zone alert system.
Oh…I forgot the power adjustable foot pedals to accommodate drivers of all sizes, the heated and cooled drivers’ and passenger seats, the heated second-row seats and the standard engine and transmission cooling systems.
If the Escalade doesn’t have it, it’s probably because no one’s thought of it yet.
With active fuel management that allows the big V-8 to run on four cylinders when cruising, the Escalade is rated at 14 city and 18 highway.
Our “Premium” Escalade stickered at $72,670. For those who can afford the ticket to dance, the Escalade is probably a lot like riding in the Presidential Limo…or the Popemobile. Outside of the occasional Rolls or Bentley, there’s not really a more high-profile vehicle of it’s type out there.
