Adidas Cancels The ‘Shackle Sneaker’

(CNN/WAOK)- Adidas’ latest sneakers, which feature what looks like shackles attached to them, have been the talk of critics everywhere.

The JS Roundhouse Mids were previewed on the Adidas Originals Facebook page in a photo.

The German company insists the design has nothing to do with slavery.

“Got a sneaker game so hot you lock your kicks to your ankles?” reads the tagline posted beneath the picture.

Facebook users commented on the page’s bulletin board bashing the orange shackles on the shoes, saying they were offensive to African-Americans because they suggest imagery of slavery.

Adidas didn’t want to offend anyone and decided to cancel the shoe because of the online criticisms.

The JS Roundhouse Mids were supposed to debut in August.
