Local Vet Gets Congressional Medal Of Honor

VILLA RICA, GA (CBS ATL/WAOK) An 88-year-old war hero will be honored in Washington this month.

Villa Rica resident and World War II veteran, James Pack, was one of the first African-Americas admitted to the U.S. Marine Corps and will receive the Congressional Gold Medal.

At the age of 19, Pack fought in the final battle of World War II in Okinawa.

Pack is now the proud father of six children and eight grandchildren.

He will receive the medal from President Barack Obama on June 28.
