ATLANTA (WAOK) - The Atlanta City Council is expected to vote on a proposal Monday to raise parking fees. The Atlanta City Council Transportation committee voted Wednesday on a $10 ticket increase.
The city hopes to compensate for the $4 million loss in revenue it incurred after changing its contract agreement with ParkAtlanta.
According to the proposal, parking tickets will now be $35. If a violator is two weeks late in paying, the amount will double to $70 and after 45 days the fine will rise to $95. Also, if a violator appeals the ticket to Municipal Court and loses, the court could charge them a penalty of up to $1,000.
