ATLANTA (AP/WAOK) – Authorities say two police officers in Roswell were hurt when a fleeing suspect struck them with a car.

Roswell police Lt. James McGee say both officers escaped serious injury in the incident early Wednesday morning.

McGee said they had responded to a domestic abuse report at an apartment complex and were attempting to speak with a man. As officers stood near his vehicle, police said the man began leaving the parking lot and struck the officers.

Both officers were treated for their injuries at the scene.

The suspect was pulled over at a nearby Waffle House on Holcomb Bridge Road. McGee said he faces charges including assault on a police officer.
