Courthouse Evacuated In Cherokee County After Bomb Threat
CANTON, Ga. (AP) — The Cherokee County courthouse was evacuated after a bomb threat was called into police.
But a spokeswoman for Canton police said that by shortly before 4 Tuesday afternoon no evidence of a bomb had been found. Sgt. Stacy Bailey said police were continuing to search the courthouse and the surrounding area. She said the search was still ongoing, but she said officers had reopened one street in downtown Canton.
Authorities say the threat was called into 911 on Tuesday. News footage of the scene showed that police had blocked off the streets around the courthouse in downtown Canton and brought in bomb dogs to search the area.
