Cancer gets a ‘Hat-titude’
On Sunday, June 10, 2012, from 2PM – 6PM, the 3RD Annual Hat-titude: Big Hat Brunch will take place at the sophisticated Museum Bar (181 Ralph David Abernathy, Atlanta, GA 30312). Men and women from all over Atlanta, and from all walks of life, will be supporting the fight against this disease in style and sophistication! Hosted by WAOK’s Princess Monique; Beth Goodman of Kingdom Klothes; and celebrity producer and public relations maven, April Love, it’s sure to be the most unique and positive event of the summer!
“We are proud to have established ‘Hat-titude’ as Atlanta’s premier social event in educating men and women on various forms of cancer,” states Jerika Head, founder and CEO of both All About Me Mixer and Hat-titude events, “In style, we highlight all forms of cancer because the disease is not just limited to the ones we hear all the time, like breast, cervical, prostate, etc. This is our third year and we’re excited that ‘Hat-titude’ continues to grow in numbers, and that only means we’re helping to save more lives!”
Hat-titude was birthed from experience. An Atlanta native and community socialite, Jerika Head takes this event seriously because almost two years ago she lost her very own mother to cancer. “I had to use my experience to educate others because there was so much I did not know about cancer when it tragically hit my family,” testifies Jerika, “My hope is to change the lives of those around me through education that will heal, encourage and prevent the negative impact of this disease.”
The Hat-titude: Big Hat Brunch is a burgeoning trend of multicultural social events purposed to raise money for deserving charities. The attire is set as an all-white affair, so that the attendees are not only stylishly uniformed, but neutralized from gender and race, so that the attention can be focused on the various forms cancer, which will be represented by the different colors of the hats. Highlights for this year’s event include a full brunch buffet, a vendor fair, a live band and musical performance by Dawn McClain, an “Ask The Doctors” segment and a celebratory two-line parade! Portions of the proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.
