ELLENWOOD, Ga. (AP/WAOK) — DeKalb County police are investigating a shooting involving a 4-year-old boy.
Spokeswoman Mekka Parish says authorities are investigating the incident as an accidental discharge. Authorities were called to a residence at 3801 Cedar Trace Lane, where Parish says the boy went into a bedroom where the gun was stored. As he was handling the weapon, it went off, grazing his head, but not penetrating the skin.
The boy was transported in stable condition to a local hospital, where he was evaluated. Parish says there are no charges in the case at this point, but that there is still an open investigation into the incident. The name of the child was not released.
