Chuck Shriner and the graduating class of Bishop Verot High School in Fort Myers were warned about pulling stunts while walking on stage to accept their diplomas and Shriner learned the hard way that the warnings were serious. During Saturday’s ceremony Shriner “Tebow-ed” both his principal and the audience and was denied his diploma after taking a knee.
The 17-year-old was also ordered to clean up the gymnasium after the ceremony as a punishment.
Shriner later learned that it was his own mother who’d devised the punishments because she is a math teacher at the Catholic school and wanted to set an example.
She picked up his diploma on Monday and gave it to him at home.
