ATLANTA (AP/WAOK) – The husband accused of shooting his wife eight times outside of their Sandy Springs apartment has waived extradition and is returning to Georgia.

Michael Parson was arrested in Texas last weekend. Police say he will be charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and giving false statement in writing concealing the facts of a felony.

Adina Parson, an attorney for the state Department of Public Health, is making significant progress after being shot three times in the head on April 20.

Michael Parson could be back in Georgia by early next week. The case is not yet on the calendar to be heard before the grand jury in Fulton County.
