No Rondo… No Problem… For the Celtics that is!
The Atlanta Hawks looking to take the commanding 2-0 series lead came up short in their 87-80 loss to the Boston Celtics.
This should have been a game where Atlanta imposed their will on the aging Celtics playing not only without Rajon Rondo but also Ray Allen however the Hawks did just what they’ve been guilty of all season; playing down to the level of their competition and also not knowing how to finish a game in the same way they started.
This game could and should have been over early but the Hawks found themselves searching for an answer and all they could find was the “TRUTH” as in Paul Pierce the all-time leading visiting scorer in Philips Arena history and of course as the old saying goes “You Can’t Handle The Truth”.
Paul Pierce scored a game high 36 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead the Celtics in their Game 2 win. Kevin Garnett also had a solid performance finishing the night with 15 points and 12 rebounds as the series now shifts to Boston.
In the losing effort Joe Johnson bounced back from his dismal 11 points performance in Game 1 and led the Hawks with 22 points and Josh Smith added 16 points and 12 boards before leaving in the fourth quarter with a left knee sprain.
By the way Boston outscored the hometown Hawks 26-14 in the fourth quarter.
I more than sure the good folks at the TD Bank Garden have the Bee Gees all cued up…
