The Florida city where the Trayvon Martin case is being held has hired a temporary police chief while the current chief is on leave. Richard Myers, who is a former police chief in Colorado Springs, was named as the interim chief due to his 35 years of law enforcement experience. The current police chief, Bill Lee, stepped down from the position after Martin’s death caught huge media attention and the number of protest started to rise. He tried to resign, but commissioners rejected is offer. Due to the large number of complaints from followers who feel that the case was not handled correctly, officials want to wait until after they fully investigate how the case was handled before the make a decision.
