ATLANTA (WAOK)  Baltimore police have made an arrest in the death of Phylicia Barnes the North Carolina teen with ties to Atlanta. Barnes disappeared on a trip to Baltimore to visit family over the Christmas holidays in 2010. Her nude body was later found in the Susquehanna River several  miles from where she was last seen. Law enforcement sources say Michael Johnson, the ex-boyfriend of the victim’s sister and the last known person to see Barnes alive was arrested Wednesday and indicted on charges of first degree murder in the death of Phylicia Barnes.  More in this report from the Baltimore Sun

Phylicia’s parents live in the Atlanta area (Riverdale). Russell Barnes, who first posted news of the arrest to Facebook, said the family was “rejoicing.” Through a family friend Barnes said last night he was going to sleep for the first time in 17 months.
