Weave Thieves Strike Again In Atlanta
ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA/AP) — Atlanta police are searching for a group of thieves who used a stolen car as a battering ram to bust into a northwest Atlanta beauty supply store.
Police tell CBS Atlanta the suspects got away with 25 packs of hair extensions worth about $3,000.
The break-in happened around 2:45 a.m., according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Officers were called to the Beauty Depot on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Investigators say they’re searching for three suspects.
Police tell WSB-TV the burglars rammed the door two times before finally getting in. After the break-in, police say they left in a car parked nearby. Investigators said they planned to use store surveillance video to try to identify the suspects.
The Journal-Constitution reports that there have been numerous amounts of weave thefts in the Atlanta-metro area over the past several months, including thieves stealing $100,000 in weaves and extensions last September from the Beauty Masters.
Lucien Poko, a general manager of several beauty supply stores, told the paper that five of the seven Beauty Masters stores he manages have been robbed.
Investigators said they planned to use store surveillance video to try to identify the suspects.
