COBB COUNTY – (WAOK/AJC) – A Cobb county police officer suffered a broken leg after chasing three home invasion suspects early Wednesday. It started just before noon, when police say the suspects broke into a home on Lamplighter Lane and fired shots, striking two people in the house. An officer says one of those men, jumped in his car, and began chasing the suspects as they sped away, exchanging gunfire with them. Officers who responded to reports of shots fired and racing cars, attempted to stop the suspects’ vehicle, but the driver sped off, until officers surrounded the suspect’s vehicle, and the occupants got out and attempted to get away. It ended on Lower Roswell Road at the South Marietta Loop. The injured unnamed officer fell during the foot pursuit and injured his leg, and one of the suspects was also hurt during the chase. A police spokesman says, neither the officer nor the suspect had life-threatening injuries . The names of those arrested were not released.
