DUNWOODY, Ga. (AP) — Police were investigating the death of a pedestrian on a busy metro Atlanta thoroughfare that tied up morning rush-hour traffic.
The death, which occurred around 4:30 a.m. Monday, led to the closure of all eastbound lanes of Interstate 285 at the start of the morning rush hour. By 10 a.m., the lanes had reopened in the area, which is near the Ashford Dunwoody Road interchange.
Dunwoody police said the ordeal began when two vehicles collided in the westbound lanes. A motorist from that wreck left his vehicle, jumped over the median wall and entered the eastbound lanes, where he was struck by several vehicles.
Police said no charges are expected to be filed against any of the drivers who struck the pedestrian.
