RIVERDALE, Ga. (AP) — Police have arrested a woman in the shooting of a 9-year-old girl in metro Atlanta.
AP Reports 19-year-old Rachell Burrell appeared Saturday before a judge, who set her bail at $70,000.
Riverdale Police Chief Samuel Patterson says Burrell was staying with the victim, other children and adults in a “babysitting kind of capacity” at a home.
Investigators say the girl is expected to survive after being shot in the stomach Friday and was able to identify the person who shot her before being airlifted to an Atlanta hospital.
Burrell is charged with aggravated assault, reckless conduct, cruelty to children and possession of marijuana. It was unknown if she had hired an attorney.
The victim’s name was not released.
