UNION CITY, Ga. (AP) — Police say a home invasion that left a Union City couple dead and their two teenage sons injured was prompted by “ongoing illicit activity.”

Police Detective Gloria Hodgson said in a statement Monday that the investigation revealed information that suggests the family was specifically targeted.

Authorities say Conswellow Bell and Shannon Bell were shot to death during the home invasion Saturday. Relatives say the couple’s sons, ages 12 and 19, were also shot and were both in critical condition after undergoing multiple surgeries.

Police say they’ve found evidence of illicit activity in the home in Union City, south of Atlanta, where the shootings happened. Police would not provide details but say there was no forced entry into the home.

Police declined to say whether they have suspects in the case.
