The Sports Kings: LB Lofton Joins Saints…

Former Atlanta Falcons linebacker Curtis Lofton has agreed to a five-year contract with the New Orleans Saints.

Saints general manager Mickey Loomis, who announced the deal Saturday night, says New Orleans sought Lofton because he can play all three linebacker positions and is just entering the prime of his career.

The 6-foot, 241-pound Lofton was a second-round draft choice by the Falcons in 2008 and has started 63 of the 64 games in which he has played.

The former Oklahoma standout led the Falcons with a career-high 170 tackles last season, to go along with a sack, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and two interceptions, one of which he ran back for a touchdown.
