DeKalb County (AP)- A female police officer was being evaluated at a hospital after a run-in with a suspect who appeared to be intoxicated, DeKalb County police said.

The incident happened around 6:30 p.m. Friday at Memorial and Columbia drives.

The female officer arrived on the scene as backup to an officer who was responding to a suspicious person call, DeKalb police spokeswoman Mekka Parish said.

The suspect slammed the female officer to the ground, and the other officer used his Taser, hitting the suspect and the female officer, she said.

The female officer was alert and conscious when transported to Atlanta Medical Center for evaluation, and the suspect was taken into custody.

No other information was immediately available.
