ATLANTA (WAOK)-Saturday February 17 will be a very busy day in downtown Atlanta. Not only will there be several events tied into St. Patrick’s Day but members of Occupy Atlanta and representatives of the civil rights and labor community will rally against bills before the Georgia Legislature that would outlaw everything from peaceful protests to abortion.
SB 469 would criminalize non-violent protests and picketing of labor disputes.
HB 954 outlaws abortion past 20 weeks no matter what the circumstances.
SB 460 limits access to contraception.
HB 861 imposes expensive and unnecessary drug testing on needy families
SB 458 bans non-citizen students from attending public universities even though they already receive no state money to do so
The rally is Saturday March 17th at 11 am at the Georgia State Capitol.
