ATLANTA (WAOK/AJC)-Imagine you are sitting in your seat on a Delta flight from Atlanta to New York when you hear the pilot say, “Is anyone here allergic to penguins?”

That’s what happened to some passengers on Delta Air Lines Flight 486 this week when after the announcement they looked down and found a pair of penguins waddling down the aisle of their Atlanta-to-New York bound aircraft.

According to a Yahoo News blogger who was on the Wednesday night flight, the pilot provided the cryptic warning before Pete and Penny, both a foot and a half feet tall, began their waddle-about.

Sideshow blogger Dylan Stableford reported more than one passenger was puzzled by the announcement.

The penguins, who suddenly appeared from first class, were headed to the premier of the Discovery Channel’s environmental documentary series “Frozen Planet”, held at the Lincoln Center on Thursday.

“Historically, Delta has carried a number of animals, including several famous individuals, in its first-class cabin, including the Target dog and the University of Georgia’s bulldog Uga” Delta spokesman Anthony Black told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

During the commotion, many passengers whipped out phone cameras to snap the birds.
