It’s the All-Star break in the NBA and your Atlanta Hawks are getting some time off at the right time.

The team entered the past two contests without All-Star guard Joe Johnson as he nurses tendinitis in his left knee and posted a record of 1-and-1 including an embarrassing lost versus the Knicks Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden and a hard fought victory Thursday night versus the Orlando Magic to pick up their 20th win of the season.

The Hawks have also been without the services of All-Star Al Horford and backup center Jason Collins; yet they’ve been able to maintain and winning record of 20-&-14 and in this shortened season that’s good enough for sixth overall in the Eastern Conference and third overall in the Southeast.

This year’s team has shown a lot of heart as of late with the consistent play of Josh Smith and the emergence of role players like Willie Green & Jannero Pargo however, I don’t think that going to be enough to win a championship or anything but it at least keeps the Hawks in the conversation.
