Joe Johnson scored 9 points last night…
Any other day I probably would blast JJ for another lackluster performance but last night Johnson could’ve taken the night off because his ball club didn’t need him versus the New Orleans Hornets.
Jeff Teague led the way for Atlanta with 24 points including 4-of-4 shooting from beyond the arc and in his return to New Orleans, Willie Green put on a show scoring 16 points off the bench in the Hawks 94-72 victory.
Atlanta pretty much had this thing under control from tipoff. The Hawks defense held the Hornets to 11 points on 30% shooting during the first quarter and never looked back.
Drew gives who the green light?
Marvin Williams the Hawks’ project since being drafted #2 overall in the 2005 NBA Draft appears to have found his stride after all this time, he scored 14 points in the Hawks win; but what’s even more impressive is that since undergoing offseason back surgery Williams has become somewhat of a threat behind the 3 point line.
On the current road trip he’s hit 10-of-15 3 pointers…
According Hawks’ coach Larry Drew he wants Williams to “Get his feet set, lick his chops, and let it go.”
With Coach Drew giving Marvin the green light I can only hope that it doesn’t encourage Josh Smith to start letting them fly on a regular basis.
