With the death of Joe Paterno who really things the man responsible for bringing down one of sport’s greatest leader of men should have released a statement praising his former boss?
Well appears as if Jerry Sandusky former PSU assistant coach felt it necessary to speak on the death of the 85 year old former head coach…
There’s really nothing to be said…
In my opinion its plain and simple what happened, Coach Paterno tried to protect his guy and it ultimately led to his demise.
In his statement Sandusky is quoted as saying “Nobody did more for the academic reputation of Penn State than Joe Paterno,” he also stated that the legendary coach “preached toughness, hard work and clean competition.”
I cannot argument with the alleged pedophile’s statements regarding Paterno’s love for the university but it’s so funny that for everything Paterno did to develop and maintain the legacy he created, one man and one man alone is responsible for the clouds of doubt and disbelief that now hang over the Paterno name.
It was Sandusky’s questionable conduct with young boys that led to Paterno’s firing in November however I blame JoePa for not attempting to do more to possibly save innocent lives from being destroyed at the hands of a man that he considered not only a co-worker but also a friend.
As a sports fan turned sports show host it just hurts me to know that all of the good things JoePa did over his 46 years as head coach at PSU won’t matter to younger generations; Joe Paterno’s legacy will forever be overshadowed by Sandusky’s child sex abuse scandal.
